What is a gastric sleeve — what is done to the stomach?
A gastric sleeve (sleeve gastrectomy) is a procedure in which the greater curvature of the stomach (~75–80%) is laparoscopically removed, leaving a thin tube- or sleeve-shaped stomach. Weight loss is achieved through both physical volume restriction and reduced production of the hunger hormone ghrelin.
What percentage of the stomach is removed?
In a standard sleeve gastrectomy, about 70–80% of the stomach is removed. The remaining stomach volume is between 80–150 ml — roughly 1/10 of a normal stomach (1,000–2,000 ml).
"Our goal is not a 'done' look, but a natural, balanced and lasting result that is truly yours."
How does the hospital process and discharge work?
The surgery takes 1–1.5 hours. Day 1 is liquids only; day 2 is a barrier test. If there are no complications, you're discharged on day 2–3. After 2–3 days of check-ups at the clinic, you can safely fly.
