How is a gastric balloon placed — is it surgery?
A gastric balloon is an endoscopic, not surgical, procedure. It's completed in 15–20 minutes under sedation. The balloon is placed orally and filled with sterile saline (400–700 ml) inside the stomach; no cutting or stitching is required.
How much weight can be lost?
On average, a 6-month balloon achieves 20–25% excess weight loss; 10–20 kg in absolute terms is common. This can be increased with diet and lifestyle changes. Maintaining the habits gained after the balloon is removed determines long-term success.
"Our goal is not a 'done' look, but a natural, balanced and lasting result that is truly yours."
How long does the balloon stay in, and what happens next?
A standard intragastric balloon is designed for 6 months. 12-month systems (such as Orbera365) are also available. At the end of the period it's removed endoscopically or via catheter; the decision on a second balloon or moving to surgery is evaluated at this point.
