The two techniques you hear about most in hair transplants: FUE and DHI. Which one suits you better? Here are the differences.
Both methods are based on transplanting healthy hair follicles (grafts) taken from the back of the scalp into thinning areas. The difference lies in how the follicles are placed.
FUE Technique
In the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) method, follicles are extracted one by one and placed into opened channels. It's preferred for large areas and dense transplants; very natural results are achieved by experienced teams.
DHI Technique
DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) is a method where channel opening and placement are done in a single step with a special Choi pen. It offers the advantage of denser placement, less bleeding, and generally faster healing; it especially stands out for limited areas and thickening.
- FUE: Large areas, a high graft count, economical
- DHI: Dense placement, delicate areas, the option of a no-shave procedure
- Sapphire FUE: Smaller channels with sapphire-tipped blades, fast healing
